CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (January 29, 2023) – Senior Claire McNeill won her 200th match at epee to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing team Sunday at the Eric Sollee Invitational, hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the Johnson Athletic Center.

McNeill recorded a team-leading seven wins on the day, securing her 200th career victory against Brandeis to become the seventh epee fencer to reach the milestone. She opened with a perfect 3-0 mark against Boston College, before adding wins against NYU and MIT. She capped her day with a 2-1 record against Brandeis, including her milestone victory.

Collectively, the Ducks went 1-5 on the day, dropping hard-fought contests to national powerhouses Boston College (20-7), NYU (19-8), MIT (21-6), Brandeis (20-7) and Brown (1-26) before concluding the day with a 22-5 triumph over Yeshiva. The Ducks wrapped up the day with an 11-19 record.

"We knew we were in for a tough day," head coach Jim Carpenter said. "We were fencing some of the top programs in the country and we were having a tough time finding a healthy lineup from the start. But everyone fought hard and competed and I am really proud of their effort!"

Among the individual weapons, sophomore Arianna Daringa had six wins to lead the sabre squad, while sophomore Annabelle Crescenzo and senior Ashley McDermott each posted four wins to lead the foilists. Other than the three weapon wins against Yeshiva, the sabre group posed a 5-4 win over NYU to account for the other event victory of the meet. Collectively, the sabre squad led the way with 18 wins, while the epee group totaled 17. The foilists totaled 16 victories to cap the weapon wins.

Individually, junior Victoria Beke had four wins at epee, while first-year Emily Miller and junior Megha Jain each had two.
