EDGEWATER, N.J. (February 26, 2023) – First-year
Stephanie Untermeyer scored a three-set victory at second singles, but the Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team fell to No. 25 Johns Hopkins University 8-1 Sunday in a non-conference matchup at the Edgewater Tennis Club.
Johns Hopkins swept the three doubles flights and five of the six singles flights to improve to 3-3 on the year. The Ducks dropped to 0-3. Sunday's match was believed to be the first meeting between the programs.
Untermeyer won the opening set 6-3 against Hopkins' Celina Liu. Lui rallied to take the second set 6-4, but Untermeyer would ultimately prevail in the tiebreaker 10-5, rallying from an early 4-0 deficit to secure the victory.
Up Next: Women's Tennis next takes the court on Mar. 12 against Occidental College at the USTA National Tennis Center in Orlando, Florida. The match will be contested as part of the Ducks' spring break trip.
