No. 24 Women's Lacrosse Pushes Win Streak to Seven With Win Over Lycoming.

Rogers had five goals and an assist for the Ducks in the game.

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 23, 2023) – Fifth-year Camryn Rogers scored five goals and added an assist as the No. 24 Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team defeated Lycoming 16-6 Saturday afternoon in a MAC Freedom matchup at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.

The contest was also senior day for the Ducks. The team celebrated Zoe Cook, Julieann Murphy, Lauren Malicki, Colleen Shea, and Maddie Schmidt.

The Ducks improved to 14-1 on the year and 6-0 in conference play. Stevens also improved to a solid 8-0 in home games this season. Stevens has also won seven straight games, which is their longest winning streak of the season.

Lycoming (8-6, 4-2 MAC Freedom) were held to a season-low goal total, as they were only to put six in the back of the net. Their previous season-low was eight, which happened on two separate occasions (Juniata, Muhlenberg).

Along with Rogers, Zoe Cook and junior Emily Leiby led the attack for the Ducks. Leiby matched her season and career high with four goals while Cook added three. First-year Stefanie Sellitto also had a multi-goal game, scoring twice on the afternoon, while sophomore Emily Smart had two assists. Murphy recorded three points for the game, scoring one goal and adding two assists. Sophomore Alison Lax also scored in the game.

Graduate student Lauren Cunniff drew the start in the cage and made eight saves in 45 minutes of action to earn her 13th win of the season. Sophomore Erica Strojny played the fourth quarter and made three saves.

Stevens came out on fire as they scored just over a minute into the game via Rogers. The Ducks would not stop there however, as they rattled off eight first quarter goals. Following Rogers' goal, Cook got on the scoresheet at 11:11 on an assist from Smart. Leiby scored just over a minute later which was followed by Lax's goal at the 9:45 mark which saw the Ducks have a quick 4-0 lead. Murphy and Smart were able to link up less than a minute later as things just kept going the way of the home team. Rogers would add two more in the frame as well as Sellitto tallying one for the Ducks. Lycoming struck once late in the quarter as Stevens led 8-1 going into the second.

Up seven after one, the Ducks extended their lead on a beautiful solo goal from Leiby at the 13:05 mark. They added their tenth goal less than a minute later as Cook found the back of the next off of a pass from Rogers. The Warriors scored next to get the deficit back down to eight, but the Ducks closed the half on a 3-0 run to lead 13-2 at the half. Leiby scored twice on the run, including one from a free position. Rogers also scored to complete the run, giving the Ducks an 11 goal halftime lead.

The third quarter was the lowest scoring frame of the game as the two teams combined for just three goals. Rogers scored under two minutes into the half to put the Ducks up 12. Lycoming got the goal back at the 7:38 mark on another free-position attempt. Zoe Cook scored her 30th of the season with under a minute and a half left off of a free-position attempt to push their lead back to 12 heading to the fourth.

Lycoming scored two straight to open up the scoring in the fourth quarter as they were able to cut the deficit down to ten. Looking to put the game away and to keep the clock running, Sellitto scored her second of the game with just over four minutes to go to go back up 11. The Warriors were able to add one more before the final whistle, but the Ducks took the win to remain perfect in conference play this season.

Stevens went two for four on free-position shots. Zoe Cook and Leiby converted for the Ducks. Lycoming went three for seven. Katie Maguire, the Warriors leading scorer, went three for four herself.
