HOBOKEN, N.J. (June 1, 2023) – Stevens Institute of Technology head women's volleyball coach
Macon Frey announced Thursday that
Amanda Rachwal has been added to her staff as an assistant coach. Rachwal joined the Ducks' staff in 2022 as a volunteer assistant.
"I am excited for Amanda to join our staff in a full-time capacity after serving as a volunteer last season," Frey said. "Since my first day on campus, she has played an instrumental role in the transitioning of our staff."
"Amanda brings a vibrant passion for the game and that passion is contagious to everyone who steps foot in our gym," the first-year head coach continued. "Amanda also brings a wealth of knowledge that will help improve our offense and blocking. I am looking forward to getting to work this summer and having Amanda in our gym this fall!"
A standout middle for Seton Hall University, over the course of her five-year career, the Bethlehem, Pennsylvania native totaled 643 kills and 357 blocks across 110 career matches (415 sets). In her final year in South Orange, Rachwal ranked fourth in the Big East with a team-leading .324 attack percentage and ranked fifth with 1.13 blocks per set. She finished her time at Seton Hall eighth in program history in career blocks and 10th in career hitting percentage (.281).
A two-year team captain, Rachwal was a member of both the Pirates' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Chi Alpha Sigma, the national student-athlete honor society.
In addition to her coaching experience with the Ducks, Rachwal has served as an assistant coach with both the Digs Volleyball Club and the Velocity LV Boys Volleyball Club and spent time as a recruiting coordinator for East Coast Power Volleyball.
With Rachwal on the sidelines, the Ducks posted a 24-10 record, including a perfect 8-0 mark in the MAC Freedom. The Ducks dropped one set across two matches to secure their third straight MAC Freedom title and the program's 13th NCAA appearance. The Ducks totaled five all-conference selections and rising junior
Bailey Axelrad was tabbed the MAC Freedom's Defensive Player of the Year. The Ducks also totaled three American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region IV selections, while Axelrad and rising senior
Elle Maggio received honorable mention All-America recognition.
Rachwal completed her undergraduate degree from Seton Hall in art design and interactive media with a focus on graphic design and advertising in 2021, while minoring in web design. She went on to receive a graduate certificate in information technology from Seton Hall in 2022.
Away from the court, Rachwal was a senior designer for Mundi Westport Corporation, working on projects for clients such as Timberland, Nautica and Tahari.
