LANCASTER, Pa. (September 2, 2023) - Graduate student Bruno Andino scored his first goal of the season but the No. 3 Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team fell to Franklin & Marshall College 2-1 on Saturday night evening at the Tylus Field.
After striking first, the third ranked Ducks (0-1-1) remain winless after two games in the early season. Franklin & Marshall (1-0) took victory in their season opener. After going down early in the second half, the Diplomats scored two late goals, including one in the final two minutes, to steal the game away from the Ducks.
It took only seven minutes for the Ducks to put an attempt on target as junior Emerico Vespucci tested the keeper but his attempt was saved. Other than that attempt, neither team recorded a shot on target until the final minute, which also came from Stevens. The two teams remained knotted at zero at the break.
Just 14 minutes into the second half, the Ducks produced their first goal of the young season as Andino converted on an assist from junior Luca Campbell. The Duck lead only lasted for around 15 minutes as Franklin & Marshall would find the equalizer to tie things up at one, marking the first goal the Ducks had conceded on the year. The Diplomats would then score in the 89th minute to steal the game from Stevens and give the Diplomats a perfect start to the year.
