Field Hockey Dominates Drew in 4-0 Victory

It marks the largest win for the Ducks on the year.

MADISON, N.J. (September 20, 2023) - Four different players found the back of the goal for the Ducks as the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team defeated Drew 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Ducks (4-2) break a two game losing streak with the win over Drew (2-5). The four goals scored was the most the team has scored in a game this season. Stevens had scored three goals across the three games prior. It also marks the largest margin of victory the team has had since October 22nd of last year.

Stevens dominated the game from start to finish as they kept peppering the Drew goal with shots throughout the game. The Ducks had eight shots in the first eight minutes, but none resulted in goals as the teams were still tied at zero entering the second. Stevens got on the scoreboard late in the second as graduate Lynda Farinella scored on a tip-in from a shot by first-year Lauren Flynn. Stevens led 1-0 at the break.

The goals started to come easier for the Ducks as they tallied two goals in the third quarter. Junior Alisyn Fink redirected a shot off of a penalty corner in the 37th minute to double the Ducks' advantage. Junior Emily Smart would add another goal with eight seconds left in the corner as she scored on a rebound. Stevens scored their fourth goal of the game in the 48th minute as first-year Sophia Cozza scored on a low blast from top of the circle off a corner pass from the left from junior Makenna Quigley. Stevens would see out the game for their fourth win of the season.
