HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 31, 2024) - Sophomore Dorothy Loffredo scored a career-high 24 points and recorded six rebounds as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team picked up another big win, this time against Arcadia. The Ducks won 67-62 in the MAC Freedom contest Wednesday night inside Canavan Arena.
The Ducks (10-10, 5-4 MAC Freedom) have won back-to-back games for the first time since November. With the victory, the Ducks improved to 4-6 in Hoboken. The home win is just the second for the Ducks in conference play, with the previous and only other one coming in their last home game against FDU-Florham. Stevens improves to 6-1 all-time against Arcadia. The Knights 17-3, 6-3 MAC Freedom) lost just their third game of the season and the first to a team other than DeSales, who beat Arcadia twice already this year. Stevens remains in fifth while Arcadia remains in second. The top four teams qualify for the MAC Freedom Tournament.
The game started off slow as neither team was able to make a field goal for the first two and a half minutes of the game. Junior Lucy Alberici got the Ducks on the board with 7:27 remaining in the first as she made a layup. Arcadia scored the next five points, but first-year Paige Gorczyca responded with a triple for the Ducks to get back within two. The Knights would go on a mini 6-0 run to go up 13-5. Stevens closed the quarter scoring nine of the last 13, including a three from sophomore Isabella Duval in the final 30 seconds, to make the score Arcadia 17-14 after one. Later down 21-16 in the second, the Ducks scored eight-straight points to jump out in front. Loffredo made two baskets and junior Lucy Alberci made one, while sophomore Leyla Castro made two free throws to cap off the run. Arcadia would come back and take a 27-26 lead, but Alberici quickly propelled the Ducks into the lead again with a layup 59 seconds to go. Stevens would lead at the half 30-29.
Loffredo made the first basket of the half to put the Ducks up three. The Stevens lead grew to as much as five after Alberici made a layup with 6:43 to go. The Knights took the lead back with 3:55 on the clock after a made three pointer to go up 38-37. Castro would make a buzzer beater from deep to close out the third as the Ducks trailed by just one heading into the fourth. Castro would also score the first points of the fourth to give the Ducks a one-point lead. With the score 54-50, Stevens used a 6-0 run to take back the lead. The run would extend to a 13–2 lead as the Ducks pulled away from the Knights. Castro and Loffredo combined for 11 of the 13 points on the run. The run spanned from 6:04 to just 33 seconds on the clock as the Ducks secured the victory.

- Alberici totaled 10 points and seven rebounds.

- Sophomore Olivia Schubiger also scored ten points and secured six boards.

- Stevens shot 39.0 percent (23-59) from the field and 36.4 percent (4-11) from three. The Ducks also shot 85.0 percent (17-20) from the line.

- Katie Rodriguez scored 10 points and had seven rebounds.
- Arcadia shot 41.0 percent (25-61) from the field and 27.3 percent (6-22) from three. They also went 6-10 from the free throw line (60.0%).
