Women's Volleyball Cruises Past Arcadia In MAC Freedom Play

Glenside, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team held Arcadia University to 15 kills en route to a 3-0 victory in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom action on Tuesday.

Sarah Bolduc led the Ducks (12-4, 2-0 MAC Freedom) with 13 kills, as three Knights (9-8, 1-1 MAC Freedom) had four kills. Stevens won the match 25-15, 25-12, 25-9.

HOW IT HAPPENED
With the score tied at one in the opening set, the Ducks reeled off four straight points, as Meg Dion and Bolduc had kills. Stevens kept on the attack as consecutive kills from Parker Adkins stretched the lead to seven. The Knights battled back and got it to five at 14-9 before Stevens pulled away with a 6-1 spurt. Vivian Lisboa, Dion, and Bolduc tallied kills to send the gap to double figures before the rookie put away set point on a Molly Harris set.

After falling behind for the first time in set two, Lisboa and Bolduc combined for four straight kills to take a 5-2 advantage. The hosts pulled even at five and six before regaining a slim one-point edge. Consecutive Dion kills gave Stevens the lead for good, and Arcadia could only get as close as three. With Stevens leading 18-12, Bailey Axelrad served up the last seven points to give the guests a 2-0 advantage.

With the score tied at six in the third frame, Lisboa put down two kills, and Ella Kraver had three straight to help break the frame open. Arcadia closed to eight at 17-9, but Kraver served the final seven markers to complete the sweep. Elle Maggio had two kills during the run, and Kraver punctuated the victory with an ace on match point.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Stevens limited Arcadia to a .010 hitting percentage over the three sets. It was the lowest a team hit this season.
• The Knights' 15 kills marked a season-low allowed by Stevens, easily surpassing the 22 against Keene State on August 30.
• Bolduc hit double-figure kills for the sixth time this season and first since having 12 against Vassar on September 14.
• Axelrad, the reigning MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week, totaled 19 digs to lead the defense.
