Women's Soccer Extends Winning Streak To Five In 4-0 Win Over Arcadia

Glenside, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team rode a three-goal second half en route to a 4-0 victory over Arcadia University in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom action on Tuesday.

Sarah Wnorowski, Lauren Alley, Gab Aloe, and Elsa Bley netted goals for Stevens (8-4-2, 4-0-0 MAC Freedom), which has won five consecutive games and is unbeaten in seven. Abigail Fuchs made six saves for the Knights (6-9-1, 1-2-1 MAC Freedom).

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Knights, who only mustered three shots on target in the match, tallied the first two shots on goal of the game. Kenny Donley was up to the task, making a pair of saves. The Ducks made their first shot on goal of the contest count as Wronowski broke the 0-0 stalemate in the ninth minute. Aloe sent a long cross from the right side of the field into the box, where Wronowski corralled the ball, made a move, and fired a low shot past Fuchs to make it 1-0.

The Ducks nearly added to their advantage off the restart as a Knights defender cleared Sophia Murphy's shot off the line. In the 19th minute, Bley's had a try off a corner kick denied by Fuchs, as the Knights keeper also stopped Nicole Angelini in the 23rd minute. Neither side could push another first-half goal across, and Stevens entered halftime with a 1-0 edge.

Stevens outshot Arcadia 10-3 in the opening 45 minutes while attempting all five corner kicks.

Wronowski
was denied in the 50th minute, but the Ducks netted their second marker of the game shortly after. Alley received a pass down low from Wronowski and tucked a low shot just inside the right post for the 2-0 advantage. Nearly four minutes later, Stevens added a third marker. Alley won a loose ball inside the 18 and fed Aloe, who fought off a defender before scoring on a low shot that eluded a diving goalkeeper.

Stevens capped off the scoring in the 69th minute as Bley recorded her second goal of the season. Arcadia attempted to clear a ball out, but Bley knocked
in down 25 yards out. She fired a shot into the top left corner, freezing the goalkeeper and capping off the goal output. The Stevens defense clamped down in the second period and did not allow a shot over the last 45 minutes.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Aloe has an assist in each of the last three contests and registered her second career goal. The first goal came against Ithaca in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament in 2021.
  • Alley extended her goal-scoring streak to five games.
  • Wronowski has five goals and two assists over her last five contests.
  • Donley earned the victory, making three first-half saves.
FROM THE FIELD (Head Coach Stuart Dick)
  • "Arcadia made life really difficult for us tonight. They defended very well and it took some individual quality to get us over the line. I am very happy with the performance. Another 4 goals and another clean sheet. Not much more we can ask for!"
