Women's Volleyball Picks Up 20th Win With MAC Freedom Sweep of King's (Pa.)

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team picked up a MAC Freedom sweep over King's College on Tuesday night.

The Ducks picked up their 20th win of the season and moved to 5-1 in conference play; King's fell to 16-9 for the year and 0-6 in MAC Freedom play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Three King's errors, two Meg Dion kills, plus one from Elle Maggio had Stevens up 6-4 early. Another error and a kill from Parker Adkins made it 8-5, but King's answered with four straight points for a 9-8 edge. Adkins tied it with another kill, starting a 9-3 run that featured kills from Maggio, Dion, and Cleo Shannon. At 17-13, kills from Dion and Adkins bookended a 4-1 run that pushed the lead out to 21-14. The Ducks closed out the set 25-15 with two more kills from Adkins, one from Shannon, and one from Vivian Lisboa.

Two Monarchs errors put Stevens up 3-2 early in the second. Three kills from Shannon, two King's attack errors, and an Adkins service ace quickly pushed the lead to 9-3. Three more Lisboa kills, plus a Liz Patterson service ace and a kill from Shannon made it 14-6; Adkins recorded four consecutive points, all kills, keeping the Monarchs at bay, with Maggio adding another kill for a 19-10 lead. Pederson, Lisboa, and Mallory Eder alternated one kill each with three King's errors, closing out the frame, 25-12.

Down 3-1 in the third, Ella Boland sandwiched two kills around one from Eder for a 4-3 Ducks' lead. After alternating points produced a 6-5 King's lead, Lisboa bookended a 5-0 run with a pair of kills, Sarah Bolduc adding another during the spurt; Liz Pederson then recorded four kills over a 6-3 stretch for Stevens, extending the margin to 16-10. At 17-12, two King's errors set Stevens off on a run of seven straight points with Kileen McNeil recording a kill and Boland recording two. After King's fought off two match points, Boland ended the night with another kill.
