Women's Fencing Posts Five Victories at Drew Invitational

Madison, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing team posted a 5-1 mark at the Drew Invitational on Sunday.

The Ducks won over Lafayette College (16-11), Haverford College (24-3), Drew University (19-8), NJIT (14-13), and Wheaton College (24-3) but lost to Wagner College (19-8).

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Sabre weapon group went 41-13 on the day, led by a 16-2 record from Sasha Craine. Craine went a perfect 3-0 against Lafayette, Wheaton, NJIT, Drew, and Haverford while adding a victory against Wagner. Ashlyn Yeung went 14-4 over the six bouts, including a 3-0 record against Haverford, Drew, and Wheaton, and added two against NJIT. Alyssa Ip registered the remainer of the victories at sabre, tallying three against Haverford and Wheaton and posted two against NJIT.

Epee and foil registered identical 32-22 marks with Grace Hicks having a big day at epee. Hicks went 15-3, going 3-0 against Haverford, Wheaton, and Lafayette, while going 2-1 against Drew, NJIT, and Wagner. Victoria Renny and Zoya Duarte-Garcia combined for 17 victories, with each going 3-0 against Wheaton in a 9-0 win.

Akemi Rodrguez led the foil group, going 9-7 while adding two wins against Haverford, Drew, Wheaton, and Lafayette. Elizabeth MacDonald and Julia DiPaolo tacked on eight victories, as DiPaolo went 3-0 against Drew and MacDonald was 2-1 in three different bouts. Annabelle Crescenzo posted a 2-1 mark against Wheaton, as Sofia Savchuck went 5-4 on the day.
