ANNVILLE, Pa. (March 16, 2024) – Graduate student Elise Fauske recorded three hits while junior Rachael Prescott had two and an RBI as the Stevens Institute of Technology softball team lost to No. 19 Lebanon Valley 6-1 in game one and 8-0 (F/5) in game two Saturday afternoon in a MAC Freedom doubleheader.
Sophomore Kyra Fischer (4-4) took the loss in game one for the Ducks. She pitched all six innings and gave up six runs on 10 hits. Four of the runs were earned. She also struck out three.
Sophomore Ashley Allen (3-1) lost game two. She lasted just 0.2 innings, giving up five runs on six hits. Sophomore Ella Tozduman pitched the other 3.1 innings, allowing three runs on six hits. She also picked up one strikeout.
The Ducks (7-5, 0-2 MAC Freedom) lose their first conference games of the year. Stevens has now lost four of their last six games, and drops to 3-3 on the road. These were the first-ever matchups between the two teams. Lebanon Valley improves to 10-2 and 2-0 in MAC Freedom play.
The Rundown (Game 1)
- Lebanon Valley started the game by scoring two runs in the first inning.
- The Dutchmen would then add three more runs in their fifth as their lead increased to five.
- Lebanon Valley added another in the sixth.
- Errors plagued the Ducks, recording four in the first four innings.
- The Ducks were able to generate six hits in the game.
- Stevens scored their lone run in the seventh inning. Fauske singled to start the inning, and later stole second. Prescott would later single, bringing home Fauske on the play.
The Rundown (Game 2)
- The Dutchmen scored five in the bottom of the first to take the early lead.
- Stevens had motion in the top of the third, as first-year Emma Quattrochi doubled to left field with one out. Later with two outs, Fauske singled to move Quattrochi to third. She would not be able to score however, as the Ducks still trailed 5-0.
- Lebanon Valley scored three more in the third to go up 8-0.
- The Ducks would be unable to generate any runs, as the game ended in five innings.
Top Performers
- Fauske led the Ducks with three hits.
- Prescott recorded two hits and the lone RBI for Stevens.
- Quattrochi also had two hits.
- Fauske scored one run. She also stole one base in each game.
- Senior Jessica Guerrero, senior Carolyn Yahn, and sophomore Joy Pikul each had one hit.
For the Opponents
- Erin Sinatra (6-0) earned the victory in game one. She allowed one run on six hits and struck out nine.
- Jordan Walker (4-2) picked up the win in game two. She gave up no runs and just four hits. She also struck out three.
- Julia Craig scored three runs, had three RBI, and recorded two hits.
- Nicole Kratz tallied three hits, picked up two RBI, and scored one run.
- Emily Mitchell had two hits and three RBI.
