SWARTHMORE, Pa. (March 30, 2024) – Sophomore Max-William Kanz earned the lone victory for the Ducks as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team lost to No. 11 Swarthmore 8-1 Saturday afternoon.
The Ducks got swept on the doubles side as they stared down an early 3-0 deficit. Senior Aashi Kulakarni and junior Vivek Harinarayan came close in their match on the second line, losing just 8-7.
Each singles match finished in two sets. Kanz finished second to last out of the sixth, so the score was already 7-0 by the time his match finished. He won 6-4, 7-6 on the fourth line. He went 3-1 on the weekend.
The loss ends a three-match losing streak for Stevens, as the Ducks fall to 4-5 heading into MAC Freedom play. The Ducks are now 2-7 all-time against Swarthmore, including losing the last four. The Garnet improved to 11-1 with the win.
