Zoe Cook Reaches 200 Career Points as No. 13 Women's Lacrosse Defeats FDU-Florham

Cook picked up four goals and two assists in the game.

MADISON, N.J. (April 13, 2024) - Graduate student Zoe Cook reached 200 career points as the No. 13 Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team defeated FDU-Florham 20-7 in a MAC Freedom contest Saturday afternoon.

Cook scored four goals and added two assists in the game.

Stevens picked up another win as they improved to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in MAC Freedom play. With the win, the Ducks improve their away record to 4-2. Stevens is now 14-3 all-time against the Devils, including winning the last three. FDU-Florham drops to 1-11 and 0-3 in MAC Freedom play.

The Ducks scored less than a minute into the game as junior Alison Lax fired Stevens in front. The visitors would double their advantage just over a minute later, as sophomore Rebecca Guerra tallied a goal on an assist from Zoe Cook. With 12:14 and the Ducks with a player-advantage, sophomore Maddie Hogan got onto the scoresheet from a free-position attempt. The Devils would record the next goal in the game, but the Ducks responded with goals from Zoe Cook and sophomore Stefanie Sellitto to go up 5-1. Junior Anna Velardi assisted the Sellitto goal. Lax and Sellitto each added another goal in the quarter as the Ducks led 7-1 after one. Starting off in the second, Zoe Cook tabbed her second of the game a few minutes in to put the Ducks up seven. FDU-Florham would come back with a goal at 11:22 to bring the Devils back within six. After three minutes of scoreless play, Sellitto found the back of the net again with Hogan being the provider on this goal. The Ducks and Devils would trade goals the rest of the way, as Stevens maintained an 11-4 advantage at the break.

It took the Ducks just 17 seconds to add to their total in the second half as Velardi struck from a free-position shot. Hogan, Guerra, Zoe Cook, and junior Emily Smart each added one more across the next eight minutes as the Stevens lead ballooned to 12. FDU-Florham would end up scoring the next two, but Velardi tallied another free-position goal before the end of the quarter as the Ducks led 17-6 heading into the fourth. Hogan would put the Ducks back up 12 with 12:50 left in the game, as she tallied her fourth goal of the game. Sellitto added her fifth a few minutes later as the score read 19-7 in favor of the Ducks. With 5:28 to go, Sellitto turned to the provider as she assisted Smart for the Ducks' 20th goal of the game. Stevens would see out the game as they won yet another MAC Freedom contest.
