No. 15 Women's Lacrosse Storms Past Delaware Valley 25-1

The Ducks had 11 different goal scorers in the game.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (April 24, 2024) - 11 different Ducks scored a goal while the defense conceded a season-low one goal as the No. 15 Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team crushed Delaware Valley 25-1 in a MAC Freedom contest Wednesday night.

The Ducks (13-3, 6-0 MAC Freedom) get back on the right track after losing on Sunday. Stevens has already clinched a home playoff game in the MAC Freedom playoffs, and will have the opportunity to get the #1 seed with a win against Lebanon Valley on Saturday. The Dutchmen will be the top seed should they win that contest. The one goal allowed in tonight's game is the lowest since last year's 25-1 win over Delaware Valley on April 26. The Aggies fell to 5-12 and 1-7 in MAC Freedom play with the loss.

Stevens scored 10 of their 25 goals in the first quarter as they jumped out to the early lead. Sophomore Stefanie Sellitto got things going for the Ducks at the 13:23 mark. It would take six minutes for the Ducks to find the back of the goal again, as graduate student Zoe Cook struck to make it 2-0. Zoe Cook added another to make it 3-0, while Sellitto and junior Anna Velardi each scored after that to make it 5-0. Stevens then scored five goals in 1:41, as they continued to score off the draw controls. Now with the running clock into the second, sophomore Hana Yang scored her first of the day to put the Ducks up 11. Velardi tallied the next goal from a free-position shot, but the Aggies got their one back to make it 12-1. First-year Alison Murray recorded her first career goal and fellow classmate Tory Seaton also scored in the quarter, while Yang scored two in the final 1:26, as the Ducks led 16-1 at the half.

Nothing changed in the second half as Stevens continued to roll. First-year Adeline Obitz scored her first of her career with 12:34 on the clock to make it 17-1. She also added two in the final 1:17 of the quarter, making it a hat trick in the third. Sellitto, Murray, and junior Emily Smart each added tallies in the quarter. Along with Obitz, first-year Abby O'Brien recorded her first career goal, as Stevens maintained a 23-1 lead after three. With the game well in hand, the Ducks added two more goals in the fourth, courtesy of O'Brien and Seaton, as Stevens cruised to victory.
