No. 15 Women's Lacrosse Clinches #1 Seed with 19-2 Win at Lebanon Valley

Stevens wil host #4 Arcadia in the first round.

ANNVILLE, Pa. (April 27, 2024) - Sophomore Stefanie Sellitto scored six goals and added an assist as the No. 15 Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team beat Lebanon Valley 19-2 in a MAC Freedom contest Saturday afternoon.

The Ducks (14-3, 7-0 MAC Freedom) clinched the #1 seed in the MAC Freedom Tournament with the win. Stevens will head into the postseason winners of their last two. The Dutchmen (11-6, 6-1 MAC Freedom) will be the #2 seed in the MAC Freedom tournament after dropping the contest today.

Stevens dominated from the get-go as they scored three goals in just over three minutes. Sellitto got things started while junior Anna Velardi tallied the next two as the Ducks led 3-0. The next six minutes would be scoreless between the teams, but Sellitto ended the drought with her second tally of the game at the 5:28 mark. She made it a hat trick a minute and seven seconds later. Junior Alison Lax, Sellitto, and graduate student Zoe Cook each added goals before the end of the quarter as the Ducks led 8-0 after one. Stevens kept pushing in the second, as Sellitto and senior Emily Leiby scored back-to-back goals to push the lead to ten and start the running clock. Velardi scored one from a free-position while first-year Tory Seaton bagged one near the end of the quarter as Stevens blanked Lebanon Valley in the first half, leading 12-0 at the break.

29 seconds into the third, Sellitto scored another goal, this time on an assist from junior Emily Smart. Smart would then find herself on the scoresheet at the 11:21 mark, with Lax adding another shortly after to make it 15-0. The Dutchmen would then finally end their goal scoring drought that lasted over 38 minutes as they got their first of the game. Leiby quickly answered that goal though, restoring the 15 goal lead. Velardi tacked on one more with three seconds left in the quarter as Stevens led 17-1. The Ducks would then add two more goals in the fourth, with one from sophomore Rebecca Guerra and the other from sophomore Lindsay Esposito, as they went up 19-1. Lebanon Valley added another late, but the game was already in hand as Stevens secured the 19-2 win.
