No. 14 Women's Lacrosse Defeats #4 Arcadia 16-3 in MAC Freedom Semifinals

The Ducks will face #2 Lebanon Valley on Saturday.

HOBOKEN, N.J. (May 1, 2024) - Sophomore Stefanie Sellitto scored five goals while graduate student Zoe Cook scored four times and added an assist as the No. 14 and #1 Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team beat #4 Arcadia 16-3 in the MAC Freedom semifinals Wednesday night at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.

The Ducks' record now sits at 15-3 as they look towards the MAC Freedom championship game on Saturday. Stevens has advanced to the championship game of the conference tournament every year since joining the conference. The Ducks also improved to 9-0 at home this season. With the victory, Stevens is now 8-0 all-time against the Knights. The Ducks outscored Arcadia 35-5 across the two matches this year. Arcadia finishes the season 9-9.

It took a little over three minutes for the Ducks to find themselves on the scoreboard, as sophomore Stefanie Sellitto put the Ducks ahead on an assist from graduate student Zoe Cook. Almost exactly a minute later, Zoe Cook doubled the Ducks' advantage with her 49th of the year. Sellitto and Zoe Cook would then proceed to each grab their second of the game as the Ducks' lead ballooned to four. With 6:35 remaining, Sellitto picked up her hat-trick with a player advantage. Zoe Cook then secured her hat trick 33 seconds later. Arcadia would tack on the next goal, but Sellitto (player down) and junior Alison Lax each scored before the siren blew as the Ducks led 8-1 after one. 34 seconds into the second, Lax doubled her tally on an assist from senior Emily Leiby. It was a low scoring quarter, as senior Emily Smart and sophomore Rebecca Guerra scored the only other two goals in the quarter, as the Ducks led 11-1 at the break.

The Ducks' success rolled over to the second half as they struck first via Guerra at the 12:36 mark. With 8:52 to go, Zoe Cook struck yet again as Stevens went ahead 13-1. Sellitto and Smart each picked up goals before the end of the frame as the Ducks' advantage was 14. Against the run of play, Arcadia got back on the scoresheet in the fourth, tallying their second of the game with 11:47 on the clock. Stevens would counter that goal with one from first-year Tory Seaton that restored the 14 goal advantage. Arcadia got one back late, but it wouldn't be enough as the Ducks cruised to the MAC Freedom championship.
