#3 Baseball Eliminated From MAC Freedom Tournament After 6-3 Loss to #2 Arcadia

The Knights win the series 2-0 and will play #1 Misericordia next weekend.

AMBLER, Pa. (May 4, 2024) – Graduate student Michael Reyes had two hits to go along with a RBI and a run scored, as the #3 Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team lost to #2 Arcadia 6-3 in game two of the MAC Freedom semifinals. Arcadia takes the series 2-0.

Graduate student Leo Bristow (2-5) took the loss in the game. He pitched five innings and gave up four runs on four hits. None of the runs were earned. He also struck out three batters.

The Ducks (24-16) are now eliminated from the conference tournament after losing the series 2-0. Arcadia moves on to play #1 Misericordia next weekend in the championship series. The Knights currently have a record of 31-10, and improve to 13-6 all-time versus Stevens.

The Rundown

  • Stevens jumped on the board first in the second inning. Reyes singled to start the frame, and junior Zachary Boykin backed that up with an RBI double as the Ducks led 1-0.
  • Arcadia scored four in the bottom half of the second to take a 4-1 lead.
  • Stevens got three base runners in the eighth due to players getting hit by a pitch. With the bases loaded and two outs, Reyes delivered another clutch at-bat, this time a single, to bring the Ducks to within two. Boykin then drew a walk in the following at-bat, which brought the Ducks to within one.
  • Arcadia answered the Ducks with two in the eighth to go back up three. They would get a double play in the top of the ninth to help them secure the victory.

  • Nadell Booker (6-3) earned the victory. He pitched seven and two-thirds innings and struck out eight batters. He gave up three runs on five hits.
  • Cam Nebel (7), who earned the win yesterday, was awarded a save. He pitched the final one and one-third inning and allowed just one hit.
  • Matthew Sot scored two runs and recorded two hits.
  • Matt Donchez had three RBI on one hit.
  • Solomon Griffith and Emilio Pallante each had a hit, an RBI, and a run scored.

Up Next

  • The Ducks will now have to wait and see if they receive an at-large selection during the NCAA Selection show, which takes place at 12 p.m. on May 13th.
