HOW IT HAPPENED
The Garnet controlled the play in the first quarter, firing the only four shots of the frame. Goalkeeper Lily Wierzbicki made a save in the 13th minute to keep it 0-0 entering the second quarter. The Ducks stormed out of the gate in the second, getting the first four corners and a shot on goal by Kylee Scherer. Stevens broke through in the 17th minute, as Cozza knocked in a pass from Lauren Flynn, making it 1-0. Wierzbicki made a stop in the 23rd minute for the final shot on goal of the period, and Stevens entered the half up 1-0.

The Garnet outshot Stevens 7-4 in the half while holding a slim 5-4 edge in corners.

The hosts notched all eight shots in the third corner, and Wierzbicki came up with a save at 33:03 to keep it 1-0. The Garnet were awarded a penalty stroke in the 34th minute, but the junior made the save. Playing with a man advantage equalized with 48 seconds remaining in the third. Wierzbicki denied two chances, but Cooper put in the third, tying the contest at one.

Neither side had a shot in the fourth, and the game moved into overtime. Both goalkeepers were stellar early on, making several stops. Stevens had four chances, but Cozza and Emily Smart were denied. On the other end, Wierzbicki came up with two denials, but Fuselier knocked in a rebound to give the Garnet the victory with 2:20 left.
