Women's Soccer Earns 0-0 Draw With No. 11 TCNJ

Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team earned a 0-0 tie with No. 11 The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon.

The College of New Jersey (5-0-2) held a 13-5 advantage over the Ducks (2-4-1).

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both sides were held shot-less over the first 5:51, and neither had a shot on goal until the 20th minute when Elsa Bley fired a shot that Ellen Williams snared. That was the only goal in the stanza, as the midfield featured a lot of back-and-forth action. The Lions and Ducks had several runs but could not generate any quality chances.

The Lions turned the pressure up in the second half, firing shots on target off set pieces in the 51st and 54th minute. Madelyn Nau was up to the challenge, making both stops. TCNJ's best attempt came in the 66th minute, as Nau was forced into a pair of saves from in close. The Lions had put a ball in the net, but it was whistled back for offside.

The Ducks best try came in the 72nd minute, as Sarah Wnorowski registered a shot on goal but was stopped. The guests had one last chance in the 84th minute, as Ava Curtis fired a long shot off a free kick that was sent away by Nau, diving to the left.

• Nau made a season-high seven saves, surpassing her previous best of six set last game against Montclair State.
