No. 12 Field Hockey Wins Fifth Straight, 3-0, Over Delaware Valley

Doylestown, Pa. – The No. 12 Stevens Institute of Technology scored in each of the first three quarters during a 3-0 victory over Delaware Valley Saturday evening in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Just past five minutes gone in the first quarter, after Sophia Cozza had a shot kicked out by Aggies' keeper Brooke Golbeski, Taylor Brooks obtained possession off the ricochet and put a ball in front of the cage where Jess Kopernick took control and fired one past Gobelski. Kopernick had two more shots in the period stopped by Gobelski and Molly DiCampli had one; in all, the Ducks outshot the Aggies 8-0 in the opening quarter.

Stevens (14-2, 5-0 MACF) goalkeeper Lily Wierzbicki was finally called into action more than 22 minutes in, getting a pad on a shot off a Delaware Valley penalty corner midway through the second quarter. Stevens doubled its lead just under three minutes later when Molly DiCampli rolled in a penalty stroke.

In the third quarter, Stevens kept its foot on the gas, peppering Gobelski with seven more shots – again without yielding any --, Gabi Moroney scoring off a pass played across the front of goal by Ava Pelletier in the final three minutes of the period.

The Ducks could not add on in the fourth quarter, though not for lack of trying – the Red and Gray added seven more shots, pushing their total for the game to 28, as they picked up their fifth straight win and 18th in their last 19 conference contests dating back to the start of the 2023 season.
