Women's Volleyball Sweeps Delaware Valley in MAC Freedom Regular Season Finale

DOYLESTOWN, PA. – Stevens Institute of Technology's women's volleyball team put a definitive stamp on another spectacular MAC Freedom campaign with a sweep of Delaware Valley Wednesday evening. Stevens (19-9, 6-1 MACF) won 25-14, 25-5, and 25-19, as the Ducks closed its regular season slate winning 18 of the final 19 sets played against MAC Freedom opposition.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Vivian Lisboa had four kills among the Ducks first five points, adding a service ace for a 7-5 Stevens lead. The teams traded the next nine points mostly on and off, with Stevens taking a 12-9 lead on an Alyssa O'Neal kill. O'Neal's kill started a 5-1 spurt that made it 16-10 Ducks. That lead did not drop below five the rest of the set, with Ella Boland, Eva Tarolli, and O'Neal all adding two more kills down the stretch; the Ducks finished the frame hitting .351.

Stevens put the second set away almost as soon as it started, jumping in front 12-1; the Ducks took advantage of four Aggies errors, with Lianna Schmieder adding a pair of service aces and Boland notching a pair of kills. The cushion remained north of 10, as Lisboa and Bolduc each contributed three kills and Molly Harris registered three straight service aces; the Ducks hit an astounding .733 for the set, committing just a single error on 15 swings with an even dozen kills, adding seven service aces.

The third set went back and forth in the early going, neither side leading by more than a point until the Ducks went in front 8-6; Mallory Eder had two kills in the early going for Stevens, and the Aggies committed four errors during that same stretch. Stevens slowly expanded the cushion, eventually opening a 21-14 advantage, drawing a Delaware Valley timeout; O'Neal had three kills during that stretch, while Ava Stewart had two, with the Ducks getting another six points from Delaware Valley errors. Two more O'Neal kills, a kill by Kileen McNeill, and one final Aggies error helped the Ducks close out the sweep.
