Women's Fencing Collects Three Wins At EWFC Championships

Madison, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing team went 3-2 at the EWFC Championship, hosted by Drew University, on Sunday afternoon.

The Ducks registered victories in their final three matches of the day, topping CCNY 27-0, Drew 17-10, and Yeshiva 25-2. They were upended by Johns Hopkins University 23-4 and Wellesley College 16-11.


HOW IT HAPPENED
The epee group went a combined 30-15 over the five matches on the day, highlighted by nine victories against CCNY, eight against Yeshiva, and seven versus Drew. Grace Hicks, Renny Victoria, and Anatasia Mose each went 3-0 against the Beavers, with Hicks and Victoria also going 3-0 against Yeshiva. Hicks continued her strong play and had an additional three wins against Drew. Victoria and Mose went 2-1 against Drew, as Mose capped off the victories against Yeshiva. Victoria collected two more wins, registering solo triumphs against Johns Hopkins and Wellesley.

Sabre went 28-17, thanks to a 9-0 win over CCNY and an 8-1 triumph over Yeshiva. Alyssa Ip, Sasha Craine, and Ashlyn Leung went 3-0 against the Beavers, with Craine and Leung going a perfect 3-0 against the Maccabees. Craine added another 3-0 victory over Wellesley and finished off her strong day with two wins against Drew and one against Johns Hopkins, Ip went 2-1 against Yeshiva and picked up solo wins against Wellesley and Drew while Leung added a pair against Drew and one against Wellesley.


Foil picked up 26 victories on the day, including 9-0 wins against CCNY and Yeshiva. Elizabeth MacDonald, Emily Zgombic, and Julia DiPaolo each went 3-0 in the shutout victories, with MacDonald and DiPaolo going 2-1 versus Drew. Zgombic had two wins against Wellesley and added one against Drew, with DiPaolo tacking on another victory against Wellesley.

The Ducks are off until March 1, when they compete at the NIWFA Championships, hosted by Drew University, beginning at 9 am.
