Women's Basketball Wraps Regular Season With 38-Point Senior Day Win Over FDU-Florham

Ducks Head to Arcadia for MAC Freedom Semifinal Wednesday

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Dorothy Loffredo posted a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double, Leyla Castro added 15 with eight rebounds, and Lucy Alberici celebrated Senior Day in style, dropping 14 and grabbing eight boards in a wire-to-wire 81-43 victory for the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team over FDU-Florham Saturday at Canavan Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens (17-8, 11-3 MACF) opened the game on a 7-0 run, Alberici bookending the spurt with a jumper and a three-pointer. FDU notched back-to-back baskets, but did not score again over the final 6:52 of the quarter as the Ducks made an early statement on both ends of the court.

Audrey Kehoe made it 8-4 with a free throw, Schubiger made it 10-4 with a layup, Castro pushed it to 12-4 with a putback, and Dorothy Loffredo made it 14-4, drawing a timeout from the FDU-Florham sideline.

Out of the timeout, a spinning layup from Alberici, a Castro three & fast break layup, and an Isabella Duval three from the left wing put the Ducks up 20, and Schubiger closed the first quarter scoring with a foul line jumper.

FDU-Florham finally stopped the Ducks' run at 21 unanswered points with a jumper early in the second, but Stevens answered the basket with another nine unanswered via a Kehoe layup, Alberici three-pointer, and four points from Duval. With Stevens up 37-6, the teams traded a two-point and three-point basket over the final three minutes, the Ducks carrying a 42-11 lead to the locker room.

Kehoe, Loffredo, and Castro all added a basket apiece early in the third as FDU eventually worked the deficit down to 25, 52-27, but three-pointers from Duval and Katherine Bogutsky, and baskets from Castro and Kehoe helped the Ducks double up the Devils, 64-32, at the end of the quarter.

Stevens held at least a 28-point edge throughout the fourth quarter, with Bogutsky adding six on a pair of three-pointers, Fiona O'Boyle pitching in five, and Alberici/Loffredo combining for six.

Before the game, Alberici, the team's lone senior, was honored for her accomplishments and contributions to the program over the last four years.
