Hoboken, N.J. – Junior guard
Leyla Castro of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team was named Second Team All-Region IV by D3hoops.com on Tuesday.
Castro earned her third consecutive All-MAC Freedom honor this year, securing a spot on the First Team, while Alberici received her second straight recognition with a Second Team selection. The senior was previously named an Honorable Mention last season.
The junior guard, who was named the MAC Freedom Championship Most Valuable Player, led the Ducks with 13.7 points, 4.8 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. She ranked seventh in the conference in points per game, first in assists per game, and second in steals per game.
Castro started all 27 games at guard and opened the season with back-to-back 20-point performances against Dickinson (22 points) and Kean (23 points) before recording 24 points on 7-of-16 shooting against TCNJ. She notched her first double-double of the year against Hunter, tallying 18 points, 12 assists, and seven rebounds. She added another double-double in early February against Arcadia, finishing with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
