Women's Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision To TCNJ

Bayonne, N.J. – Alix Dry picked up a pair of victories but the Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team was topped by in-state rival TCNJ 6-1 on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In doubles, the Ducks earned a win at the No. 2 position, as Milagros Carbajal Diaz and Alix Dry teamed up for a solid 6-3 victory. They were unable to claim the doubles point, as the No. 1 doubles team of Stephanie Untermeyer and Lorena Piegas fell 6-1, while the No. 3 duo of Gigi Arenas and Emma Eguia were defeated 6-0.

In singles,
 Dry delivered Stevens' lone point of the match with a gritty performance at the No. 1 spot, taking a three-set battle 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5). At No. 2, Untermeyer dropped a 6-3, 6-0 match, while Carbajal Diaz fell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3. Eguia was defeated 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, followed by Piegas at No. 5, who came up short 6-1, 6-3. Arenas closed outthe lineup with a 6-2, 6-2 loss at No. 6.

The Ducks return to Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom action on Tuesday, heading to Madison, N.J. to face FDU-Florham at 3:30 pm.
