Bayonne, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to New York University on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens battled in doubles but was unable to secure the doubles point. Two of the three matches went to a tiebreak, with
Aidan Miller and
Samvid Andhare earning a 7-6 (7-4) victory at the No. 2 position.
Vivek Harinarayan and
Matt Luzzi were edged 7-6 (7-4) at No. 3, while
Olof Persson and
Max-William Kanz came up just short, falling 6-4 at the top of the lineup.
In singles play, Kanz recorded the Ducks' lone win, outlasting Boren Zheng 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 at No. 1. At No. 5,
Dhaivik Chenemilla took the opening set 6-4 before dropping the second 7-5 and the third in a super tiebreak, 10-8. Stevens was defeated in straight sets across the remaining four flights, though Andhare pushed his opponent at No. 3, falling 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.
