Bayonne, N.J. – The top-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team blanked FDU-Florham 4-0 to advance to the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship Match on Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks took a 1-0 lead after doubles play, sweeping all three flights while surrendering just four games.
Aidan Miller and
Samvid Andhare defeated Nicholas Weglinski and Kelvin Liwag 6-1 at the No. 2 spot, while
Matt Luzzi and
Vivek Harinarayan posted an identical 6-1 score at No. 3 against Jaden Andresen and Chase Miller.
Olof Persson and
Max-William Kanz completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 win over Matthew Emery and Ronald Duval at No. 1.
In singles,
Dhaivik Chenemilla brought Stevens closer to clinching the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Andresen at No. 6. Kanz followed with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win over Emery at No. 1. The Ducks sealed the match when Miller claimed a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 2. Although the match concluded once the team victory was secured, several Ducks were leading in their unfinished matches: Andhare led 6-2, 3-1 at No. 3, Harinarayan was ahead 6-3, 5-0 at No. 4, and
Noah Pe was up 6-1, 5-0 at No. 5.

Stevens will host the MAC Freedom Championship on Saturday, taking on Lebanon Valley College at 1 p.m. at the Bayonne Tennis Courts.
