No. 11 Men's Lacrosse Explodes for 26 Goals Against King's

Myriad of Ducks Notch Career Highs and Season Firsts

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The No. 11 Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team scored 11 goals in the first quarter and 18 in the first half with 15 players scoring at least one in a 26-3 win over King's in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom action Wednesday night from the DeBaun Athletic Complex..
 
Joseph Grippo (five), Matthew Pergola (four), and Jack Tenaglia (three) all had hat tricks for Stevens (8-3, 2-0 MACF), Tenaglia notching the first of his career; Adam DeCristofaro and Tyler Johnson both had two goals – a career-high for each.
 
Bastian Chorazykiewicz was 12-for-14 at the X with a career-high 10 ground balls, Luigi Pantano was 8-for-10 with a career-high five ground balls, Will Giarrusso was a perfect 5-for-5, and Jackson Penn won three of his four face-offs. Defensively, a dozen different Ducks caused one turnover apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Pergola and Grippo each notched two early goals, putting the Ducks up 4-0 less than seven minutes in. Pergola completed his hat trick, sandwiching #3 between goals from Jackson Penn and Shea Grant that made it 7-0. Tommy Robertozzi, John Flynn, Grippo (his third), and Pergola (his fourth) made it 11-0 Stevens through 15 minutes.
 
King's (1-10, 0-3 MACF) got on the board to open the second, but two from Grippo, two from DeCristofaro, two from Tenaglia, and one from Hudson Rocheville made it 18-1 Ducks at the half. Stevens outshot the Monarchs 50-7 in the opening 30 minutes, including a 30-3 advantage in shots on goal.
 
Blake Creamer, Tenaglia (his third), and Payton Hevers made it 21-1 Stevens less than three minutes into the third before King's tacked on their second of the night. Jake Connelly, Johnson, and Matthew Kirschner put the Red and Gray up 24-3 heading to the fourth.
 
After Johnson added his second of the night, James Carey IV added his name to the scoresheet for the final goal of the night.
