Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past King's 20-3 In MAC Freedom Action

Smart Notches 200th Career Point

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play with a dominant 20-3 victory over King's College on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Emily Smart became the 12th player in program history to reach 200 career points for Stevens (8-4, 3-0 MAC Freedom). She is the second Duck to reach the milestone in as many games, following Emily Leiby, who accomplished the feat against Misericordia on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks wasted no time taking control. Leiby opened the scoring just 52 seconds in with a man-up goal, followed by Anna Velardi striking just 16 seconds later. Taking advantage of another King's penalty, Maddie Hogan extended the lead to three at the 3:47 mark. After a brief Monarch possession, a turnover led to Smart converting a feed from Leiby to make it 4-0.

Just 37 seconds later, the duo reversed roles, with Smart assisting Leiby. Stevens continued its first-quarter surge, building an 11-0 lead thanks to goals from Alison Lax, Rebecca Guerra, and Stefanie Sellitto, along with additional tallies from Smart, Hogan, and Leiby.

Alina Friz and Elise Hensley added goals early in the second quarter before the Monarchs broke their drought midway through the period. Stevens closed out the half with scores from Alison Murray and Sellitto.

The Ducks dominated the first half statistically, holding a 19-5 edge in shots and going a perfect 11-for-11 on clear attempts.

Sammy Renda opened the third-quarter scoring with a free-position goal at the 3:45 mark. Hana Yang followed with back-to-back goals, including an assist from Leiby on the second. After a King's goal, Friz netted her second of the game, and Abby O'Brien capped off the scoring with just 55 seconds remaining.
