Women's Soccer Draws 1-1 With York (Pa.)

Fourth Straight 1-1 Draw for Ducks

HOBOKEN, N.J. – For the fourth straight match, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw, this time with York (Pa.) from DeBaun Athletic Complex Saturday afternoon.

The draw marked the fifth of the season for Stevens (2-2-5), establishing a new single-season program mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both sides had opportunities aplenty in the first half. For Stevens, early yielded a shot opportunity for Sarah Wnorowski in the opening two minutes, with the opportunity bouncing wide. Alina Friz displayed some fancy footwork in splitting two defenders, missing just high in the 22nd minute.

For York (5-3-2), Meg Kalthof had York's first look of the match in the 18th minute but sailed her volley from a ball into the box over the crossbar. Sara Frensley headed a corner kick just wide in the 26th minute, then forced a Kenny Donley leaping save with a long-distance effort in the 35th, that shot ending up the final one of the opening 45 for either side.

The Spartans finally broke through in the 55th when Meg Kalthof put a charge into one from 25+ yards out past an all-out effort from Donley. After Sophia Murphy, Alana Odom, and Friz all had efforts blocked or sail just wide between the 57th and 60th minute, the game dramatically turned between the 70th and 71st minute.

Less than a minute after York had three looks inside the box blocked – one shot each by Maila Chopra, Kaitlyn Petit, and Stella GeninAngela Dinh played a cross from the right side to Wnorowski about 12 yards out. From nearly an identical spot as her attempt in the second minute, the senior re-directed the ball just inside the left post for the equalizer.

The final 18 minutes yielded six more shot attempts between the two sides, the two best looks coming from Stevens off a free kick in the 83rd minute, when Dinh was denied by Joss Metz from inside 12 yards and Alina Friz's rebound effort was blocked wide.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
