READING, PA. -- The Stevens field hockey team ran its record for the year to 3-0 Saturday with a commanding 6-0 win over Albright, as head coach Meredith York picked up her 100th win with the program.
Already the program's career wins leader, York joined the century mark in her 158th career game. The Ducks put the game away quickly, scoring three times in the first quarter and another three times in the second, with five different players etching their names on the scoresheet.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Gabi Moroney opened the scoring just four minutes into the contest, converting off an assist from Lauren Flynn. Less than seven minutes later, Aleah Dinmore doubled the lead with a strike, and Molly DiCampli capped off the dominant first period with Stevens' third goal at the 14:16 mark. The Ducks outshot Albright 11-0 in the frame, overwhelming the Lions' backline.
The second quarter brought more of the same as Stevens' attack stayed relentless. Jess Kopernick pushed the advantage to 4-0 midway through the frame, followed by a quick pair from Taylor Brooks, who scored at the 27:48 and 29:52 to complete her brace. Stevens entered the half with 17 shots, 13 of them on goal.
With a comfortable cushion, the Ducks managed possession over the final two quarters. Albright finally registered its lone shot of the game in the fourth quarter, but it was blocked before even reaching the cage.
Stevens rotated goalkeepers throughout the second half, with starter Lily Wierzbicki making way for Julianna O'Sheal in the third, who in turn parted before the fourth for Natalie Ward, the three combining for the shutout, though none of them were forced to make a save, as the Ducks' backline did not concede so much as a single penalty corner.
