Men's Basketball Posts Wire-To-Wire MAC Freedom Win Over King's, 87-67

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team put on one of their strongest top-to-bottom offensive efforts of the season Wednesday night in a wire-to-wire 87-67 victory over King's in MAC Freedom action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks showed plenty of balance in the first half, with five players each contributing at least six points. Tommy Scholl and Anthony Loscalzo each hit an early three, as Kyle Maddison added his second jumper to put Stevens up 10-3 just past four minutes gone.

King's (briefly) kept things close, but a 26-11 burst that spanned less than eight minutes put the Ducks up 20, 38-18, at the 4:55 mark, with Evan Gutowski (six), Maddison (four), Brendan Coughlan (four), Matt Leming (three), Scholl (three), and Jonathan Nsenkyire (two) all contributing during the run. The Monarchs reeled off nine straight points late, but the Ducks still carried a 42-29 lead to the locker room.

Stevens (7-7, 1-2 MACF) maintained the double-digit lead throughout the second half. The Monarchs closed to 48-38 exactly four minutes off the restart, but Scholl bookended an 11-5 mini-spurt with a layup and a three-pointer, pushing the margin back to 16, 59-43, with 13:56 left.

The lead fluctuated between 11 and 17 under the four-minute mark before two Scholl free throws and a Leming three-pointer put the Ducks up 21, Brian Dolinick adding Stevens' final points of the night (and his first points of the season) with a hook shot in the final 90 seconds.

After shooting over 48 percent from the floor and 42 percent from beyond the arc in the first half, the Ducks finished the second half at a 52.8 percent clip from the floor and a 62.5 percent clip from three-point territory.
