ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team dropped a 63-50 MAC Freedom road affair to Lebanon Valley on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 8-4 just shy of the midway mark of the first quarter, Stevens (14-4, 5-2) reeled off a 9-0 run in just over two minutes, bookended by a pair of
Fiona O'Boyle layups; O'Boyle added a last second layup, putting the Ducks up 15-12 after the opening 10 minutes.
The second quarter was as tight as could be throughout, as the teams remained within one possession for all but 20 seconds of the period.
Dorothy Loffredo (four),
Leyla Castro (eight), and O'Boyle (four) combined for all 16 Stevens points in the quarter, as O'Boyle finished the first half a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor.
After shooting 40 percent in the first half, the Ducks quieted in the second, hitting just under 30 percent from the floor, as the Dutchmen took a three-point lead less than four minutes into the third quarter and did not relinquish that cushion the rest of the way.
