Center Valley, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team dropped a MAC Freedom matchup with DeSales, 71-43, on Saturday afternoon, ending the team's three-game winning streak.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens (17-6, 8-4 MACF) led 6-0 off back-to-back three-pointers from
Leyla Castro and
Isabella Duval, then withstood a 7-0 spurt from the Bulldogs to regain an 11-7 at the 4:14 mark of the opening quarter, a score that held more than five minutes, extending into the second quarter.
The Ducks still led 13-11 with just over seven minutes to go before DeSales reeled off 15 of the next 18 points, opening a 28-18 lead before Castro knocked down a three-pointer in the final seconds of the half.
The third quarter proved to be the difference as the Bulldogs outscored the Ducks 30-6, carrying a 58-27 lead into the fourth. In the fourth,
Fiona O'Boyle had eight points for the Ducks as they outscored the Bulldogs, 16-13.
