Women's Lacrosse Opens Season With 17-Goal First Half in 21-6 Victory Over Roger Williams

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Maddie Hogan, Stefanie Sellitto, and Alina Friz combined for 14 goals, more than doubling Roger Williams' team total as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team opened the 2026 season with a commanding 21-6 victory over the Hawks on Saturday from the DeBaun Athletic Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens (1-0) struck twice in the first two minutes, with Gracie Shea and Friz scoring a goal each. Sellitto and Friz (again) tacked on late in the period, as the Red and Gray took a 4-2 lead to the second quarter.

The Ducks matched their first quarter output in the first 3:20 of the second quarter as Friz, Sellitto (twice), and Alison Murray all found the back of the net; Shea and Hogan tacked on two more over the proceeding 80 seconds, as Stevens pushed the lead to 10-2. The goal scoring frenzy continued over the next 4:03, with Hogan, Sellitto, and Abby O'Brien (twice) extending the margin to 10, 14-4, initiating the running clock. Hana Yang and Hogan (twice) put Stevens up a baker's dozen, 17-4 at the half; the Ducks scored on all but one of their shots on goal in the first half.

With the game well in hand, Friz added two more and Murray put the Ducks at 20 goals at the end of the third quarter, and Hogan scored the team's final goal of the game a minute into the fourth.
