No. 16 Women's Lacrosse Knocked Off By No. 2 Wesleyan

Hoboken, N.J. – The No. 16 Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team fell to No. 2 Wesleyan in non-conference action, 12-5 on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Maddie Hogan answered an early Cardinals goal with one for the Ducks, who took a 2-1 lead after Alina Friz converted a player-up opportunity just past the midway mark of the opening period. Wesleyan answered with back-to-back goals to close the opening 15 with a 3-2 lead.

Alison Murray opened the second quarter scoring, knotting the game at 3-all, but Wesleyan scored twice less than 90 seconds apart, taking a 5-3 lead that remained as such over the final 10 minutes of the half, as Stevens' Kailyn Vautour and Wesleyan's Izzy Weintraub stopped the team's combined four shots on goal, including a free-position shot denied by Vautour.

Wesleyan sought to put the game out of reach with the first four of the second half for a 9-3 lead, though Murray and Friz got two back for the Ducks, keeping Stevens (2-3) within four heading to the fourth. The fourth quarter played out much like the early stages of the third, with the Cardinals tacking on the final three goals of the game
