Chester, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's track & field team set several season-bests, personal-bests, and all-time program marks on the first day of the Widener-hosted Danny Curran Invitational Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The last event of the night, the 10,000 meters, featured a trio of noteworthy performances. Mick Barbi ran 32:21.13, 5th-fastest in program history, Dylan Barrett ran 33:44.48 (less than two seconds off a Top 10 all-time mark), and Joseph Ruben ran a personal-best 33:53.53.
The 10,000 meters wasn't the only event with a new addition to the all-time Top 10 list, as
Kane Perry posted a top mark of 13.51 meters in the shot put, sixth-furthest in program history and the first male Duck over 13.00 meters since March of 2018.
In the 5,000 meters,
James Adamo and
Max Thorn ran 16:14.43 and 16:15.17, respectively, with Thorn setting a new personal-best. Both times were less than 45 seconds from Top 10 all-time status.
Justin Gajewski posted a top mark of 12.63 meters in the triple jump, just 0.15 meters off his personal-best, the eighth-best mark in program history.
