Center Valley, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom victory over DeSales University on Sunday afternoon.
The Ducks improved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in MAC Freedom play with the shutout win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens took control early by sweeping doubles and allowing just two total games across the three flights.
Wei-Wei Lai and
Lorena Piegas posted a 6-0 shutout at No. 1 doubles, while
Gigi Arenas and
Stephanie Untermeyer earned a 6-1 victory at No. 2.
Alix Dry and
Kaylee Hobbick capped the sweep with a 6-1 win at the third flight.
In singles, the Ducks were just as dominant. Hobbick did not surrender a game at No. 5 singles, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Julia Chiovitti at No. 6, Piegas at No. 2, Lai at No. 3 and Arenas at No. 4 all recorded matching 6-1, 6-1 wins. Dry completed the shutout with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at the top flight.
