Basking Ridge, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's golf team hosted the Battle at Basking Ridge on Monday, with the "A" Team finishing 13 shots clear of the field and the "B" Team finishing 3
rd among the 12 teams competing in total.
The "A" Team posted a combined round of 296 (+12) with Scranton coming in 2
nd with 309 total strokes (+25). Kean finished two shots back of the "B" Team and Arcadia rounded out the top five finishing five shots back of Kean.
Jack Harris led the "A" Team, finishing first with an even-par 71.
Sebastian Beaver and
Noah Eide each finished three shots back, tying for third, with
Ben Slicker and
Arav Tank each finishing six shots back, tying for eighth.
Brock Dickson was the top finisher for the "B" Team, firing a six-over 77, matching Slicker and Tank.
Bryce Karty and
Dillon Kim posted matching 78s to tie for 13
th,
Udyat Sarangdevot carded a 10-over 81 to tie for 22
nd, and
Alex Carey tied for 31
st with a 12-over 83.
Competing as individuals,
Luke Snyder shot 81 and Punn Chitaratlert &
Maxime Debets each shot 82.
From The Course
Harris (almost) took the path of least resistance, parring each of his first 15 holes before birdieing the par-four 17
th and bogeying the par-three 18
th.
Beaver started his day with two birdies on the first five holes (the par-four 4
th and 7
th), adding his third and final birdie of the day at the par-five 14
th.
Eide birdied his first hole of the day (the 4
th), adding three more at the par-four 10
th, the 14
th, and par-five 2
nd.
Slicker posted back-to-back birdies at the par-five 6
th, then joined Beaver with a birdie at 7, part of a one-over front nine for the junior.
Tank parred his first five holes and shot three-over on the front nine, then parred his first five holes after the turn, shooting three-over on the back nine.
Dickson bounced back from bogeys on each of his first holes, birdieing the par-four 9
th, as well as the par-four 15
th and 17
th, carding a two-over 37 on the back nine.
Karty, like Dickson, started his day with a bogey, but birdied the 14
th, the par-three 18
th (the only Duck to do so), and the par-four 1
st.
Kim parred each of his first five holes, as well as six of his last eight.
Sarangdevot parred five holes on the back nine, then parred three of five holes before capping his round with a birdie at the 6
th, joining Slicker as the only Ducks to do so.
Carey went five-over through his first three holes, but parred each of his next four holes, then capped his day parring each of his final five holes.
Snyder birdied the 2
nd while shooting four-over on the front nine; Chitaratlert carded the team's lone eagle of the day at the 2
nd, adding the team's lone birdie at the par-four 12
th; Debets parred seven holes on the day.
