Hoboken, N.J. – The No. 14 Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team scored at least six goals in each of the first three quarters of a 23-6 victory over Arcadia in MAC Freedom play Saturday afternoon.
Nine different players scored for Stevens (11-4, 5-0 MACF), with five recording hat tricks.
How It Happened
Alison Murray got the scoring started for the Ducks, who got back-to-back goals from
Maddie Hogan, then again from
Abby O'Brien, grabbing a 5-0 lead in the final three minutes of the first quarter. Arcadia got on the board off the draw control following O'Brien's second, but
Adeline Obitz put the final goal of the quarter on the board for the Ducks.
Murray joined the two-in-a-row club in the first three minutes of the second, putting the Ducks up 8-1. What followed next was a three-goal spurt spanning barely two minutes, with
Alina Friz,
Stefanie Sellitto, and
Colleen Ginsberg helping initiate the running clock at the 7:08 mark of the quarter. Sellitto and Ginsberg both added another, sending Stevens to the half up 13-1.
Hogan, then O'Brien, then Friz made it 16-1 in the third, before five goals traded back and forth sent the game to the fourth quarter with Stevens up 19-2 – Hogan, O'Brien, and Maillie Colin added Nos. 17, 18, and 19 for the Ducks.
After Arcadia scored three of the first four in the fourth (Friz scoring for the Ducks),
Elise Hensley and Sellitto (twice) added the final three goals of the day, all in the final 4:30.
