Doylestown, Pa. – Eleven different Ducks found the back of the net as the No. 13 Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team rolled to a 22-0 shutout of Delaware Valley University in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom action Tuesday.
Stevens (12-4, 6-0 MAC Freedom) dominated from start to finish, outshooting the Aggies (4-12, 0-6 MAC Freedom) 38-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks erupted early, racing out to a 6-0 lead just 4:11 into the contest behind five different goal scorers.
Abby O'Brien opened the scoring 1:03 into the game, followed by tallies from
Stefanie Sellitto,
Alina Friz,
Maddie Hogan (two), and
Alison Murray. O'Brien and Sellitto each dished out two assists during the opening surge. Stevens added five more goals over the final 4:39 of the first quarter to take an 11-0 lead, with O'Brien and Hogan each netting their second of the day. The Ducks were efficient offensively, placing 15 of their 17 first-quarter shots on goal.
Kailyn Vautour turned aside the lone shot she faced in the opening frame before giving way to
Emma Guzowski.
Sellitto converted a free-position attempt 3:02 into the second quarter, and Friz and
Gracie Shea followed with back-to-back goals to extend the lead to 14-0. Mallie Colin and
Maddie Sullivan capped the first-half scoring as Stevens carried a 16-0 advantage into the break.
The Ducks continued to control play in the second half, as Murray and Sullivan each scored their second goals of the game in the third quarter. Sellitto added another free-position goal with 16 seconds remaining in the period. Colin,
Adeline Obitz, and Ginsberg found the back of the net in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring. First-year goalkeeper
Jana Bacero-Duncan made two saves in the final period to preserve the shutout.
