Men's Track and Field Close Muhlenberg Invitational With Trifecta of Wins

Allentown, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's track & field team closed the Muhlenberg Invitational on Friday with a trio of wins and numerous top-three finishes.

Competing against regional foes Moravian, King's, and DeSales, among others, Stevens won at 800 meters, the 3000 meter steeplechase, and the pole vault, grabbing top-three finishes in the 110 meter hurdles, triple jump, and both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Enrico Parrella ran a personal-best 1:57.30 in the 800 meters, taking the race by a mere 12-one hundredths of a second. Nelson VanMaaren was third, less than two seconds back.

Ryan Paradine finished 27 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Paradine led by 15 seconds at the 1,600-meter mark, extending his cushion over each of the final 3.5 laps.

Having never cleared more than 4.02 meters entering the day, Michael Dao flew into the top five in program history in the pole vault, clearing 4.25 meters (the only person at the meet to do so), and on his first attempt at the height. Chris Persico finished third, clearing 3.95 meters, and Kyle Miller cleared a personal-best 3.80 meters, finishing fifth.

Dao wasn't the only Duck on the day who set a program Top-5 mark, as Konstantinos Georgiadis went 13.31 in the triple jump, third on the program's all-time list, and just the second student-athlete over 13.00 meters in the last 15 years.

Calvin Gibson and Matthew Rudzinski finished 3-4 in the 110-meter hurdles, running into a headwind of more than one meter per second.
Chad Francis, Doug Winant, Asher Morgan, and Chase Kosiba finished second in the 4x100 relay, just four-tenths of a second back of Moravian's winning time. The quartet's time of 42.94 seconds was the seventh-fastest in program history.

Connor Robinson, Enrico Parrella, Eduardo Neto, and Ian Rodriguez teamed up to run 3:26.62 in the 4x400 relay, just 31 one-hundredths of a second back of Muhlenberg's winning time.

UP NEXT
Danny Jutras will run at the Princeton-hosted Sam Howell Invitational tomorrow. As a collective, the team will compete in the three-day TCNJ Multi and Invitational starting next Thursday.
