No. 12 Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past Maritime, 19-7

Hoboken, N.J. – The No. 12 Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team upended Maritime College 19-7 in a non-conference tilt on Friday night.

Jack Tenaglia led the Ducks (8-2) with six points, while Ryan Hannaford led Maritime (3-7) with six.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless four and a half minutes, Tenaglia converted a Mac Waynick feed to give Stevens the opening marker. Waynick set the play up as he scooped up a loose ball, leading the Ducks down the field in transition. The Privateers pulled even at one midway through the frame before three consecutive Stevens tallies within a 1:38 span broke the game open. Tenaglia potted an unassisted marker before Will Labartino netted a goal from Matthew Pergola. Labartino made it back-to-back goals as he capped the run with an assist from Tenaglia.

Maritime scored its second of the game as time expired in the first quarter, but Stevens responded with two quick tallies in the second. Adam DeCristofaro scored exactly one minute into the second, and Connor Moore broke through 36 seconds later to stretch the lead back to four. Moore netted his second with 11:25 left in the second, but Maritime got one back seven minutes later. Taking advantage of a man-up situation, Stevens polished off the first-half scoring with Chris Ciccarello assisting on a DeCristofaro goal.

Stevens outshot Maritime 35-11 in the first half and was a perfect 9-for-9 on clears.

The Ducks needed just 13 seconds to register their first tally of the second half, as Jackson Penn won the faceoff, picked up the ground ball, and fired a shot past the goalkeeper. Moore completed his hat trick at the 10:34 mark of the third as Ryan Jack extended the score to 11-4 four minutes later. The two sides traded markers late in the period as Stevens entered the fourth leading 12-5.

Jack and Ciccarello opened the fourth with tallies, and Maritime scored with 9:21 left to make it 14-6, but Stevens potted two goals in eight seconds. Tenaglia finished off his hat trick, and on the ensuing faceoff, Bastian Chorazykiewicz won the draw and went the rest of the way to stretch the lead to double figures. Blake Creamer, Ciccarello, and Pergola closed the game with goals to help Stevens seal the victory.
