Grantham, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's track & field team tallied 22 points on Day of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Outdoor Championships on Friday, picking up a win, a second-place finish, and two other top-eight finishes.
The Ducks enter the final day of competition on Saturday trailing Messiah (32 points), Eastern (42), Widener (47), and Lebanon Valley (57).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Brandon Kiefer won the decathlon with a school record 6212 points after recording top-three finishes in three of the five events contested Friday, finishing 698 points ahead of the event runner-up, greater than the gap between 2
nd place and 9
th place in the event.
Calvin Gibson gave the Ducks a pair of podium finishers in the event, taking eight place, just seven points back of seventh – Gibson's top event finish was in the 110 hurdles, where he took 4
th, one spot ahead of Kiefer.
William Ladd set a PR and moved from a tie to third into sole possession of second on the program all-time Top 10 in the high jump, clearing 1.96 meters, taking second in the event.
Ryan Paradine took sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:50.34, a microscopic .09 seconds back of fifth and just 2.27 seconds behind the fourth-place competitor.

The third and final day commences tomorrow at 11:00 AM with finals in the following events: pole vault, javelin, triple jump, shot put, 100 meters, 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles, 800 meters, 1500 meters, 5000 meters, 4x100-meter relay, and 4x400-meter relay.
