Women's Soccer Falters At York, 2-1

York, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team fell, 2-1, to York (Pa.) in a soggy non-conference affair Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first 12 minutes transpired relatively quietly with neither team registering a shot or even committing a foul, though Stevens (0-5-3) did create two corner kick opportunities. Ducks' keeper Maria O'Brien was the first goalie called into action in the 13th minute, collecting a bouncer from about 15 yards out.

Less than two minutes later, Molly McCann corralled a loose ball on the near side about 25 yards out, maneuvered around a trailing defender coming back into the play, and with her left foot, bent a shot perfectly between the far side post and outstretched arms of York (6-1-2) keeper Grace Leathery.

The Spartans knotted the match four minutes later, then jumped in front just shy of six minutes after; Abigail Davis had a look from the top of the box between the two Spartans goals but missed just wide of the near side post.

In the 51st minute and 76th minute, respectively, Alana Odom and Hanna Kusinski each had volleys off corner kicks, but Leathery grabbed Odom's, while Kusinski's sailed over the crossbar. The Ducks also had a corner kick in the final 90 seconds, but the delivery was headed out of the box before a shot could be recorded.  Defensively, Lucy Smith recorded a save in the 72nd minute and Taylor Truglia got her body in front of a York shot in the 85th minute to keep the deficit at just a single goal.
