Vinny Carlesi Jr.

Vinny Carlesi Jr. is an Assistant Baseball Coach at Stevens Institute of Technology, where he has served on the Ducks’ coaching staff since 2023. 

In his role, Carlesi serves as co-hitting coach as well as overseeing scouting. He also coaches third base for the Ducks, running the gameday offense.

Carlesi brings extensive experience in player instruction and program development at the high school, collegiate, and club levels. Prior to joining Stevens, he served as the Head Coach of the New Jersey Rising Rebels 13U program from 2021 to 2023, leading the team to four tournament championships while competing against top-level competition throughout the East Coast. His work emphasized fundamental development, competitive preparedness, and long-term athlete growth.

Since 2024, he has been an assistant coach with the Essex Legends of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, continuing his involvement in high-level summer baseball.

From 2022 to 2023, Carlesi held multiple roles at Montville High School, serving as Head Assistant Varsity Coach, Head Scout, and Strength and Conditioning Coach. During his tenure, he helped manage daily practices, lineups, and pitching rotations, while also designing and implementing the program’s off-season strength and conditioning plan. 

Carlesi also served as a coach and counselor with Nike Baseball Camps from 2014 to 2019, working with athletes of all ages to develop technical skills, game awareness, and a strong foundation in baseball fundamentals. He has also worked as a clinician and camp instructor at prospect and team camps such as Headfirst Honor Roll, Play to Win, Diamond College Showcase Camp, Rutgers, Richmond, Lafayette, Lehigh, Franklin & Marshall, 17Sports College Showcase Camp, PSL Scout Day, All Star Baseball Academy, USABL, and Best in US.

A former standout student-athlete, Carlesi earned numerous accolades during his playing career, including Team Captain and Most Valuable Player honors in 2016. He was named First Team All-State, All-County, and All-Conference in the same season, led Morris County in batting, and finished fourth in the state in hits. He also holds his high school’s single-season hits record and was selected to the MCBL Riverhawks All-Star team in 2017. Carlesi attended Immaculata University and Drew University, where he studied business, and is committed to using his playing and coaching background to positively impact student-athletes both on and off the field.
