Coach Aldins says: Kevin is one of our hardest working members of the team and is a leader amongst the pitching staff. He has logged key innings over the years and we are looking for a big year from Kevin in 2012.

2011: earned 2^nd Team All-Empire 8 status...led the team in wins (four) and games started (eight)...tied for team lead in innings (52.1)...2^nd in strikeouts (34) and appearances (11)...picked up the win in relief (3 IP, 2 H, R, ER, 0 BB, 3 K) vs. Mt. St. Mary (2/27)...did not give up a run in 0.2 innings of work (H, 2 K) vs. Cortland St. (3/17)...went 8 strong innings (4 H, 2 R, ER, 0 BB, 8 K) to pick up the win vs. CCNY (3/20)...picked up a key conference victory (6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 6 K) in the 2^nd game of a doubleheader vs. St. John Fisher (4/2)...threw a complete game gem (9 IP, 8 H, 2 R, ER, 6 K, BB) to pick up the win vs. Old Westbury (4/22)...had a solid relief outing (3 IP, 6 H, R, ER, 0 BB) vs. The College of New Jersey (4/26).

2010: appeared in four games all out of the bullpen...posted a 0-0 record with a 2.45 ERA over 3.2 innings of work...threw a scoreless frame (H, 2 K, 0 BB) vs. Mt. St. Vincent (4/5)...threw a clean frame (0 H, K, 0 BB) vs. John Jay (5/4).

High School: earned National Honor Society status and was ranked 6^th/413 in his class… played for coach Frank Asta at Jackson Memorial…competed for the Jackson Jarguars American Legion team under coach Dave Asta…while at Stevens has been playing for the Jackson Thunder summer program…named captain of his high school baseball program…team won the Shore Conference Championship in 2009…earned Ocean County All Star status his senior year.

Personal: son of Mark and Diane Mathews…majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Engineering Management…also pursuing a Master Degree in Chemical Engineering…born 4/9/91…has been participating in Stevens’ CO-OP program and has worked for both for L’Oreal and Jarchem…favorite aspect of Stevens is the education, CO-OP, baseball, and views from Hoboken…favorite MLB team is the New York Yankees…top movies are The Social Network and 8 Mile…enjoys cars, reading, life-guarding, and video gaming in his spare time.
