Biography

Coach Aldins says: "Matt is a good defender behind the dish and has shown some potentially at the plate as well. He will be competing for at bats both at the catcher position and first base."

2018: appeared in 7 games and started 2, while posting a .500 batting average...drew a walk in his only plate-appearance vs. Birmingham-Southern (3/14)…collected his first collegiate hit and went 1-for-1 with a walk vs. Arcadia (3/24)…went 1-for-3 (2 R, 2B, BB) vs. Rutgers-Camden (4/8).
 
High School: National Honor Society…played varsity baseball for coach Eric Joyner…played summer baseball for Team Baseball Heaven and the Long Island Titans under coaches Dan Walsh and Joe Giacomantonio…attended various Blue Chip Tournaments as well as the Play to Win showcase camp.
 
Personal: son of Leslie and Glenn Schmidt… has a younger sister, Emily…planning on majoring in electrical engineering…picked Stevens because of it’s ranking in the engineering field…favorite MLB player and team are the New York Yankees and Buster Posey…top book and movie are The Maze Runner series and The Dark Knight Rises…enjoys playing FIFA in his spare time.
