Jessica Reed

Entering her third season as the Stevens Institute of Technology head field hockey coach, Jessica Reed has transformed a squad with only one victory in its inaugural season into a winning program just a year later.  In 2005, the Ducks posted a 10-7 overall record and avenged seven losses from the previous season.  This year, Reed will lead the Ducks into their first campaign in the competitive Empire 8 conference.

Reed is a 2000 graduate of American University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism.  While at American, Reed was a four-year starter at left-midfield and helped her team to a No. 12 national ranking during her tenure.  She was a three-time member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Academic Squad and a four-time Colonial Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete.

After graduating from American, Reed worked and played field hockey in England.  For the 2000-01 season, she was a member of the Old Loughtonians hockey club, which competed in the English Hockey League.

Upon returning to the United States, Reed spent one year as an assistant coach at Georgetown University in the fall of 2001 before joining the staff at Drexel University.  During her time at Drexel, Reed helped the squad to an 11-win season and a berth in the ECAC tournament in 2002 - the school’s first year in the Colonial Athletic Association.  While at Drexel, Reed earned her Master’s of Science degree in Communications.

Reed also holds coaching roles in the United States Field Hockey Association Olympic Development program.  She has served as head coach for the Central New Jersey Under-16 Futures field hockey site for four years.  Reed has twice been invited to coach at the National Futures tournament and has been selected to coach at Junior Olympics and the High School Open Camp.  She was also the Director of the Field Hockey Garden State Games, which was hosted by Stevens in the summer of 2005 and 2006.

Reed holds a certificate from the first International Hockey Federation field hockey coaching course held in the United States.  She completed the program in July 2005.
